Prosperity Step #7

Prosperity Step #7… “Sensory Conditioning And The Hidden Secrets Of Mastery

Welcome to The Ten Steps To Wealth

This series of posts is based on the 11 steps I took to become financially free. Together, they form The Pathway To Prosperity.

This step is about developing an ability to see only the destination you’re interested in so that potential obstacles begin to fade from view.

George Bernard Shaw summed up this ability in the following words, “People are always blaming circumstance for what they are. I do not believe in circumstance. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want and if they can’t find them, they make them.

And that’s essentially what you must learn to do. It’s the ultimate example of determined focus directed towards the important outcomes you want and not the distractions you find along the way.

This is by far the most often repeated task I face as a mentor… it’s getting people to refocus on their outcomes instead of the daily distractions that suck them into all sorts of non productive behaviours.

Underachievers live in an external world of stimulus and reaction. Their “story” is an account of the life circumstances that have prevented them from achieving more.

Achievers don’t have a story, they create the reality they want. They’re guided by strong internal processes. They have a great sense of clarity and they respond to obstacles rather than react to them.

The real secret to achievement is learning to develop a yes bias that allows you to respond effectively to circumstance.

People tend to be their own biggest obstacles. As a result, they spend most of their time battling fires on different fronts and moving from one drama to another.

To enjoy prosperity you need to respond to resistance rather than react to it. When faced with obstacles, you need to see them as opportunities to grow.

Napoleon Hill reminds us that in every disaster there are seeds of an equivalent opportunity or more.

When confronted with obstacles, prosperous people understand that they’re simply lessons waiting to be learned along the Pathway To Prosperity.

In Mans Search For Meaning, we read the story of Victor Frankl a Viennese psychiatrist imprisoned in a German concentration camp.

As you read his story, it’s difficult to comprehend that anyone could have been tortured more than he.

They took everything from him but somewhere along the way he realised he had something they could never take from him and that was his ability to choose what things meant to him.

We’re all blessed with similar powers… Yet most people choose to surrender their power by continuing to live in mental prisons of their own thinking.

What would you do differently if you were to realise that your current results are in perfect harmony with the way you think… would you begin to change the way you think?

While people may have dreams of greener pastures, luxurious holidays and firing their bosses, the thought of doing anything about those dreams freezes people into inaction.

As a result they keep looking at where the grass is greener but they do it from behind their self imposed barriers.

To get past these self imposed limitations, you often need the support of a mentor. That’s what I found and it’s one of the things that helped me achieve the results I wanted faster than I could have otherwise done by myself.

When you work with a mentor or a mentorship group in a step by step mentoring program, two things happen… firstly, you move away from the intrusion of distraction and secondly, you feel more supported to move towards the results you want at a faster pace.

When the time is right for you… it’s time for a change.
